Ventura County Fire Department instructors teach this six-week week course, one evening per week, and a final exercise held on Saturday. DATES: Monday evenings, March 2 through April 6, 2026Participants learn valuable emergency preparedness and response skills for self, family and community. Reduce hazards in your home and create an emergency plan for your family. Stock important items in your emergency kits to shelter-in-place or evacuate when necessary. Fire Safety and practice putting out a fire with a fire extinguisher. Disaster medical first aid -- when you are the first to see an injured person, be prepared to help! Set up a treatment area for survivors. Light search and rescue The CERT program teaches residents how to prepare before an emergency incident and how to respond. Requirements Must be patient and comfortable working with children ages 5-14. Must commit to a minimum of 15 hours over three months.
