Exploring is an exciting way for youth to experience the dynamic field of law enforcement firsthand. The program is designed to enhance a youth’s preparation for a future in law enforcement service, encourage community service, offer firsthand experiences with field activities of the Sheriff’s Office and provide Camarillo Police positive relationships with local youth.
Explorers can participate in ride-alongs with deputies, attend weekly meetings, participate in tactical based competitions, perform specialized details, go to a 3-week summer academy and much more.
- Requirements to join the Explorers:
- Applicants must be between 14 and 20 years of age
- completed the 8th grade
- Live or go to school in the greater Camarillo area
- Pass a background examination
- Have no criminal history
- Maintain a 2.0 GPA
